Book publisher Penguin Random House approached our team to work with them to create the UK’s first ever Author Portal – a dedicated website for their authors featuring sales data, training materials and news.
Putting the end users; authors, their agents and Penguin Random House staff; at the core of the project was absolutely crucial. After gaining a firm understanding of business requirements, we ran 10 focus groups with approximately 75 future users. These generated 25 hours of audio interviews, around which we based our primary functionality recommendations and user journeys. As annotated wireframes took shape, we conducted group and individual user testing to shape the site’s information architecture and key user flows. After launching in October, we continue to work with Random House to develop the Author Portal further based on user feedback.
